You know, last night and tonight were really great.

Two reasons: Battleship and Monopoly.

LAST WEEKEND

• Last Friday I was invited out to a kegger by the Walsh boys. I headed up to their place around ten or so. We pre-drank and YouTube’d in a crowded bedroom. Around midnight we headed out to the house close to downtown where it was happening. There were about forty people and I won some money on some games of beer pong. Met some wonderful people, knew one of the roommates’ girlfriends from years ago as well. Totally out of place, haha. I wandered home around three.

• Last Saturday I went down to the Guggenheim, affectionately referred to as The Goog. It’s an underground club here, complete with a smoking room and wooden floors. The walls are exposed and the ceiling is low, containing all of our air until three-thirty in the morning. It’s perfect. I get in with the password given to me, Cunt, and there’s a sea of skin and flashy patterns. There must’ve been two hundred of us or so.

Beforehand, I was at Jimmy Jazz with a bunch of old friends (Nugget, Jordan, Ryan, Alex, Emma, Adabu, among others) drinking pints and eating sunflower seeds on the back patio. The heaters back there are wonderful. I could’ve easily gone in a longsleeve sweater in forty below under those things. We all played some catch-up and all was well. Nugget and Ben split his wine with me in the parking lot.

You should buy this album. Do you know why? Because it’s fantastic. It usually makes at least a half dozen rotations a week on my playlists.

Datamancer’s Steampunk Laptop

This may look like a Victorian music box, but inside this intricately hand-crafted wooden case lives a Hewlett-Packard ZT1000 laptop that runs both Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux. It features an elaborate display of clockworks under glass, engraved brass accents, claw feet, an antiqued copper keyboard and mouse, leather wrist pads, and customized wireless network card. The machine turns on with an antique clock-winding key by way of a custom-built ratcheting switch made from old clock parts.

I love you, best friend. I will push and hold and support you ‘till my brain is eaten by worms, scout’s honor. You’re my person.

It’s been getting pretty bitter outside. Figured we all needed some warming up, from scratch! Lazy Sunday afternoon baking.

Watch this. No, seriously- stop what you’re doing for the two and a half minutes it takes from its beginning to its end. Breathe, take a break.
